〜といったらない — Meaning & Examples

"Indescribably / you wouldn't believe how..." Positive or negative, somewhat conversational. 退屈といったらない = unbelievably boring. Casual: 〜ったらない.

〜といったらない — "Indescribably..."

といったらない means the degree is beyond words — "you wouldn't BELIEVE how..." It can be positive or negative, and it's more conversational than the others in this lesson.

Pattern: [i-adjective / na-adjective / noun] + といったらない
(casual: 〜ったらない、also 〜といったらありはしない in writing)

初めて富士山の頂上から見た景色の美しさといったらなかった。
= The beauty of the view from Mt Fuji's summit was beyond description.

毎日同じ作業ばかりで、退屈といったらない。
= Nothing but the same tasks every day — you wouldn't believe how boring it is.

彼のいびきのうるささといったらない。
= His snoring is unbelievably loud.

Casual version:
うれしいったらない!

= I couldn't be happier!
