〜からある/〜からの — Meaning & Examples
"As much/many as X" — emphasises a surprisingly large quantity. 10キロからある荷物; 100人からの観客. Also からする for prices.
〜からある/〜からの — "As Much/Many As X"
からある and からの attach to a number to emphasise that the quantity is surprisingly LARGE — "as much/many as X, if not more."
Pattern: [number] + からある/からの + [noun]
10キロからある荷物を一人で運んだ。
= He carried a package weighing as much as 10 kilograms, all by himself.
100人からの観客が集まった。
= As many as 100 spectators gathered.
1万円からする高級な万年筆をもらった。
= I received a luxury fountain pen costing as much as 10,000 yen. (からする for prices works the same way)
Key feeling: Raising an eyebrow at the size of the number — "and that's not even the ceiling, possibly more."
