〜さえ〜ば and 〜ば〜ほど

〜さえ〜ば = "if only / as long as just ~" — one single condition is enough.

Formation: noun + さえ + ば-form / verb ます-stem + さえすれば

お金さえあれば、何でもできる。
= If only I had money, I could do anything.

ボタンを押しさえすれば、動きます。
= As long as you just press the button, it works.

君さえよければ、一緒に行きたい。
= As long as you're OK with it, I'd like to go together.

The nuance: さえ isolates ONE condition as sufficient, dismissing everything else. It often carries a hint of "and nothing else matters."

---

〜ば〜ほど = "the more X, the more Y."

Formation: ば-form + dictionary form + ほど

練習すればするほど、上手になります。
= The more you practise, the better you get.

考えれば考えるほど、分からなくなる。
= The more I think about it, the less I understand.

With adjectives:
い-adj: 安ければ安いほどいい。 = The cheaper the better.

な-adj: 静かなら静かなほどいい。 = The quieter the better.

Shortcut: the ば half is often dropped in speech — 考えるほど分からない works fine.
