Meaning & Examples

"Precisely because X." Emphasised reason, often defending strictness: 愛していればこそ厳しく叱るのだ. Sentence frequently ends with のだ.

Precisely BECAUSE..."

ばこそ gives a reason with maximum emphasis: "it is precisely because X that Y." It often defends an action that might look harsh or surprising.

= It's precisely because I love you that I scold you harshly.

= I tell you to stop drinking precisely because I worry about your health.

= He was chosen precisely because he has real ability.

Signature usage: justifying tough love. The listener sees strictness; ばこそ reveals the caring reason behind it.

・てこそ = "only by DOING X" → condition for a good outcome

・ばこそ = "precisely BECAUSE X" → emphasised reason, often surprising

Quick recap:
・すら = even(formal さえ)🔦

・だに = even/merely(literary, fixed verbs)📜

・てこそ = only by doing X 💪

・ばこそ = precisely because X ❤️
